Pacific Western Brewing has been honoured as a company that “chooses to make a difference in their community through social and environmental responsibility.”
At ceremonies Oct. 18th, PWB received the Prince George Chamber of Commerce Environmental Leadership Award. Presenting the award was Environmental Dynamics Chief Operating Officer Cathy MacKay. “This is a business that considers the environmental impacts in all their business decisions, products, and services,” she told an audience of more than 300 guests.

Hartford said: “Our history of investing where we live stretches back more than 20 years. On the environmental front our initiatives have included beach clean-up campaigns, a wild salmon enhancement program, recycling our spent grains and organic waste to provide feed for local farmers and reforestation.”
Over the past two years PWB’s ‘Cariboo Cares’ initiative has been responsible for the planting of more than 170,000 Spruce and Lodgepole Pine seedlings between here and 70 Mile House.
“Our brewery has always believed it should support the communities that have supported us,” Hartford added. “Our CEO, Taizan, wholeheartedly embraces our legacy of philanthropy, particularly those elements of giving that improve our environment.”
“Our ‘Cariboo Cares’ reforestation initiative is just one small part of a huge forestry regeneration undertaking that is vital to BC’s environmental wellbeing,” Taizan said. “I’m pleased to say we are here for the long haul and with the help of many others in this community we will make a significant contribution.”
